Whether it be for a party, club, fetish or fantasy, or just because of the feel against the skin, PVC, Latex and Leather clothing is very popular appealing to a very wide range of people. We sell all three types of clothing and in many different styles. Below we have covered the properties of each material, examples of wear, and also how to care for these materials. Price ranges vary greatly and are mostly driven by quality, meaning you can end up paying a lot of bucaroonies for a good garment but it will last. At the other end of the scale, cheap garments can give you the advantage of trying out the different materials without re-mortgaging your home first.
PVC Wear
One of the benefits of PVC wear is that you can be as obvious or subtle as you like. You could wear an 'in yer face' PVC catsuit to a party or just wear a little PVC miniskirt to a club but either way you could feel just as sexy with your shiny, tight fitting outfit.
When buy PVC, quality can be quite difficult to spot with the main difference being the make up of the PVC. The ultimate PVC is a 50/50 mix of polyester and polyurethane but the lower cost PVC uses polyamide in the mix. Design and stitching can also give some indication of quality. PVC should be soft, supple, with a little bit of stretch for a good fit.
Looking After PVC
PVC is a synthetic material and is also sensitive to excessive light, heat and some chemical substances.
-
Wipe the outer side with a damp, soapy cloth, and refresh the inside with fabric freshener.
-
For more soiled items, wash gently in cold water with wool detergent. Hang up to dry naturally, away from sunlight or direct heat.
-
You can use latex shine sprays to shine it up if it has gone slightly dull.
-
Nail polish remover, nail polish, or any toluene or acetone based solvents will permanently damage PVC by dissolving the surface.
-
Do not take it to the dry cleaners, as they use toluene-based solutions for cleaning.
-
Keep your PVC items hung as opposed to folded, and store them away from sunlight to prevent cracking and flakiness.
Latex Wear
Latex is tight fitting and can either be shiny and provocative, or matt and subdued. A tight-fitting minidress or top will give you a confident, dominating look. Add long gloves and high heels and go for the complete dominatrix look. Latex can be great for domination games with full body suits, masks and body bags available. You can even wear it discreetly to work with both male latex pants (with internal butt plug) and female latex pants (with internal texture for continuous stimulation) available.
At the cheap end of the latex market, garments can look good on packaging but the reality tends to mean weak & thin material which can tear easily after one or two uses, and not just at the seems. As the quality improves (and the cost increases) the material will be thicker with improved designs to ensure minimum seems. At the top end of the market are the hand made garments with premium quality latex. One of the latex wear brands we stock are LateX (German) and are known as good middle of the range designers of well-fitting, good quality rubber wear.
Looking After Latex
Latex is very sensitive to external environment, and inevitably will age. To get the most out of your latex, follow these guidelines.
-
Don't expose it to excessive sunlight and heat.
-
Don't use detergents. Get a special latex cleaning fluid; it will preserve its stretchiness for longer, and only use lukewarm water for rinsing.
-
Hang it to dry naturally. Once dry, powder it with talc to prevent stickiness and store in a dark place.
-
Never use oil-based lubricants. They cause latex to dissolve.
-
Use talcum powder to put latex garments on. It will make the process easier and you will avoid the danger of tearing.
-
Use special latex shine sprays to achieve high shine.
Leather Wear
Leather can be quite erotic to wear, even just as a discreet piece of lingerie that know one can see. The quality of leather is usually noticeable by its finish. Cheap leather is hard and can result in quite bad chafe marks from wearing it. When buying leather, good quality will be soft and supple with consistent tanning, rounded or hemmed edges and good quality buckles and studs.
Looking After Leather
When looked after properly, leather will last a very long time. It is a material that improves in look the more it is used. To take care of your leather wear, follow these guidelines.
-
As a routine, wipe it clean with a soft dry cloth.
-
To give it a good clean every so often, use a damp soft cloth and specialist leather soap, for example saddle soap. Work the soap into a lather, and then wipe off with a dry soft cloth.
-
Try not to get it soaked, as it will shrink. Pat it dry first, then leave to dry completely on a flat, well aired surface away from sunlight and direct heat, as they can cause cracks.
-
Condition your leather regularly with leather conditioners and use leather protective sprays for extra shine and protection.
