Introduction To Anal Play :
Men AND women can enjoy anal play.
It may be that a small toy or finger is enough for some, whilst other may get more satisfaction from larger toys or vibrating toys.
The main point to remember is never have unprotected anal intercourse, however here are a few other pointers to help you get the most from anal play.
Ensure You Use Lubrication -
Unlike the vagina, the anus does not produce lots of natural lubrication. As a result we strongly recommend that any anal play includes a generous application of a suitable sexual lubricant. Thick water-based or pure silicone lubricants are ideal. If using condoms, you need to make sure the lubricant is compatible with the condom. See our different lubricants section for the do's and don'ts on the right sexual lubricant for the right sex toy materials (Click Here to go to sexual lubricants).
Take Your Time And Relax -
To ensure maximum enjoyment from anal stimulation you will need to be completely relaxed as the sphincter muscle surrounding the anus, is normally quite tight.
If It Gets Uncomfortable - Stop.
It may be that more lubrication is required or you need to relax more.
Don't Mix Anal And Vagina -
There are different bacteria in different holes and they don't mix well. If you use a toy or even your own member for one hole, make sure it is cleaned or a fresh condom used before inserting it in another hole.
Use Flanged Toys -
Unless you are using anal beads, ensure your toy has a flanged base which will stop you from accidentally loosing your toy where the sun don't shine.
Use Flexible Toys -
The anal passage is curved and easily damaged so if you're inserting more than approx 4", make sure your toy is flexible so it too can curve.
Beware Of De-Sensitising Creams -
For beginners and also advanced anal players, using a de-sensitising cream can lead to less enjoyment as you cannot feel as much. There is also the danger of damage being caused and you not being aware due to the normal warning signs being nummed.
The Prostrate Gland -
This is just inside the anus towards the front of the body. Great sensations can be achieved by massaging or stimulating the prostrate gland with either a finger or the use of an anal toy.
Anatomy Of An Anal Passage -
Understand a little of the anatomical structure of the anus before you start playing. The first three inches or so tilts toward the front of your body, so inserting things at a slight angle in this direction will ease their entry. Then it curves towards the back for a few inches. Bear this in mind when inserting.
Using Anal Beads -
Anal beads are primarily designed to be inserted prior to intercourse and then withdrawn at the point of orgasm. This can greatly heighten and intensify the orgasm. Click HERE to see our range of anal beads.
Anal Butt Plugs -
These are usually placed up the anus and left there during periods of sexual play or intercourse. A wide range of materials and sizes are available including inflatable. There are also vibrating butt plugs as well as remote control ones. Some have a deliberate curve to massage the prostrate gland. Click HERE to see our range of anal butt plugs.
Above All - Play Safely.
The anal lining is very sensitive to damage so never use anything with sharp or jagged edges and always stop if it gets uncomfortable.
